About St. James' Church, Flockton
On Sunday 8th September 2019, we celebrated the 150th anniversary of the consecration of the church.
We welcomed the Bishop of Huddersfield, Rt. Revd Jonathan Gibbs, who preached and celebrated Holy Communion at a joint service for the three parishes in the United Benefice.

A very friendly and welcoming parish church, St. James' stands at the heart of the village of Flockton on the A637 Barnsley Road, half way between Huddersfield and Wakefield in West Yorkshire.

Despite the many and changes that have occurred over the years, Flockton Church continues to seek to be outward reaching in its mission and service.  We are committed to praying for the community of Flockton and the wider world.  We hope that everyone in the village, as well as visitors, will find themselves at home and part of the community in their church.

Why not come and join us on a Sunday?  Everyone is very welcome and we would welcome the opportunity to get to know our community further.

The current congregation of St. James' are committed to making sure the church is able to serve our community of Flockton for many years to come.

Richard Carter Community Centre

At the end of July 2015, a major building project commenced with the aim of creating a village community centre in the back part of the church building.  Our committee, Flockton Forward, worked tirelessly to make the village community centre a reality.   On the 3rd of July 2016, the Richard Carter Community Centre was officially opened.  The Bishop of Huddersfield, The Rt Revd Dr Jonathan Gibbs, the Archdeacon of Halifax, The Ven Dr Anne Dawtry, and our local MP, Paula Sherriff, were all in attendance.  It was a very special day for the community of Flockton.  Please navigate to the Community Centre page above to learn more about activities in the centre and how you can get involved.
