The new community centre is almost complete (January 2016)
The work is almost finished. Here are some photos showing the new look for Flockton Church and the wonderful new community space at the back of the church. We look forward to our opening celebration and to welcoming the village of Flockton to use the new facility. Dates will be announced in due course.
The new community centre has a kitchen! (November 2015)
The kitchen is now installed in the new community centre. We have two sinks, two hobs, two cookers, microwave and fridge! The toilets are also in place, including a large disabled toilet. It's a very warm building with underfloor heating and large radiators in place. This is an exciting time for the church and community of Flockton. We thank everyone for their continued support and a very special thanks to those who are making this all possible.
Plastering, tiles and doors! (November 2015)
The community centre is really starting to look the part now! The kitchen walls have been plastered, and the toilets have wall tiles and doors. We really need your continued support. Any small amount will make a real difference. Please visit our Flockton Forward Giving page: https://www.give.net/20180112 or email above for further details.
Community centre is really starting to take shape! (October 2015)
A few weeks really does make a big difference! Downstairs we have a concrete floor, walls to separate the community area from the rest of the church building, toilets and a kitchen. We now have stairs to the upper floor. The backdrop of the beautiful stained glass window is stunning.
Building work is well under way! (September 2015)
The building work is well under way now. The underfloor heating is in and the floor laid on top. The structure of the new community centre building is now starting to appear and we have a new mezzanine floor.
Flock Fest! (August 2015)
Flock Fest held at Flockton Cricket Club was a great success! Thank you to all who supported us. We raised over £600 towards the Community Centre project. It was a fun-packed day and even the sun came out for us! We hope everyone enjoyed it. Many thanks to all who made this possible and a special thanks to Flockton Cricket Club for being fantastic hosts. Can't wait to repeat next year!!
Building work inside the church has started! (August 2015)
Work in the church building is well underway and the back part of the church looks very different now!
The west end has been dug up and the font has moved near its new place at the front.
Please continue to support this project as more funds are needed to help make a real difference for the village of Flockton. Flockton Forward Giving page: https://www.give.net/20180112

The building work at Flockton Church has begun. The drainage system is being put in before the builders move inside the church building.
Duncan did it... And made it into the Huddersfield Examiner! (July 2015)
Flockton Forward's Duncan Griffith overcame his disability to complete a 2km 'Crutch Hobble' through Flockton from Zion Chapel to the George & Dragon in aid of the Community Centre Appeal. Duncan made it with a group of supporters and his own personal nurse! Read more about Duncan's brilliant effort in the Huddersfield Examiner Report
The Bishop of Huddersfield meets Flockton Forward (May 2015)
The Bishop of Huddersfield, Rt Revd Dr Jonathan Gibbs, visited St Michael's Emley to meet the parish of Flockton and Emley. His visit coincided with the 10 year anniversary of the re-ordering of the church of St Michael the Archangel, Emley. It was a great opportunity for everyone to meet the new Bishop, offer thanksgiving prayers for the successful completion of repairs to the tower roof and porch at Emley, and pray for the building work due to commence shortly at Flockton. Pictured below is the Bishop with some members of Flockton Forward.
Working together to create a village community centre
Plans for a new community centre for the village of Flockton in the back half of the church building have been given the go-ahead. The community centre with kitchen and toilets will provide much needed space for the village for a variety of activities. It is hoped that the whole village, rather than just the church congregation, will support the project by developing existing activities and initiating new ones. Flockton First School have already expressed an interest, seeing the potential for additional space for some of their work and activities.
Kind donations to help and support this community project are much appreciated. If you wish to support us, please visit our Flockton Forward Giving page: https://www.give.net/20180112
We also welcome your input to fundraise with us. Every donation, monthly or one-off will really help to support this village community. We thank you in advance for your kind generosity and support.
